Understanding Bidirectional Reflectance and Transmission for Space Applications
نویسنده
چکیده
Applications for optical diffusers in space projects are presented which include the functions of reflection, transmittance, and collection. These modes encompass such diverse uses as temperature regulation and ozone concentration monitors. Discussed is the cooperative aspect of diffuse reflectance and environmental stability. Magnesium oxide, sodium chloride and barium sulphate are evaluated in some detail. The importance of scene scattering behavior to modeling the earth's radiation budget and in determining thermal inertias of thc earth's surface are discussed, because solar albedo serves a~ the weighting function in the solar input irradiance. Finally, work in the area of canopy reflectance modeling is reviewed with verification data included whenever available. Some knowledge of the bidirectional reflectance propcrties of vegetation is necessary for identification, acreage computations, and scene transferrance.

In many applications of color technology such as spectral color reproduction it is of interest to represent the spectral data with lower dimensions than spectral space’s dimensions. It is more than half of a century that Principal Component Analysis PCA method has been applied to find the number of independent basis vectors of spectral dataset and representing spectral reflectance with lower di...
متن کاملAcquisition and modeling of material appearance
In computer graphics, the realistic rendering of synthetic scenes requires a precise description of surface geometry, lighting, and material appearance. While 3D geometry scanning and modeling have advanced significantly in recent years, measurement and modeling of accurate material appearance have remained critical challenges. Analytical models are the main tools to describe material appearanc...
متن کاملHyperspectral Bidirectional Reflectance Measurements of Fagus Sylvatica Leaves
This research focused on bidirectional reflectance distribution function (BRDF) measurements of Fagus sylvatica leaves, using a state of the art new multispectral Compact Laboratory SpectroGonioreflectometer (CLabSpeG). The BRDF was based on 4356 reflectance measurements covering the electromagnetic spectrum from 350 nm to 2500 nm. These measurements were acquired by independent positioning of ...
متن کاملImage-based Material Weathering
The appearance manifold [WTL∗06] is an efficient approach for modeling and editing time-variant appearance of materials from the BRDF data captured at single time instance. However, this method is difficult to apply in images in which weathering and shading variations are combined. In this paper, we present a technique for modeling and editing the weathering effects of an object in a single ima...
